He Looked Beyond My Fault (And Saw My Need)

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins (shortcomings and trespasses), He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace we saved from God’s judgment). Eph. 2:4-5

He Looked Beyond My Fault (And Saw My Need)
by Joyce Reba “Dottie” Rambo

Amazing Grace shall always be my song of praise
For it was grace that bought my liberty
I do not know just why He came to love me so
He looked beyond my fault and saw my need

Chorus
I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary
To view the cross where Jesus died for me
How marvelous the grace that caught my falling soul
He looked beyond my fault and saw my need

Hold To God’s Hand

We start 2023 with this song of encouragement. Happy New Year.

Hold To God’s Hand
by Jennie B. Wilson

Time is filled with swift transition,
Naught of earth unmoved can stand,
Build your hopes on things eternal,
Hold to God’s unchanging hand!

Chorus
Hold (to His hand) to God’s unchanging hand!
Hold (to His hand) to God’s unchanging hand!
Build your hopes on things eternal,
Hold to God’s unchanging hand!

Trust in Him who will not leave you,
Whatsoever years may bring, Continue reading “Hold To God’s Hand”

He Grew The Tree

He Grew The Tree
by Barbara Mandrell

He molded and built a small lonely hill
That He knew would be called Calvary.
Then He made the seed that would grow to be
Thorns that would make His son bleed.
He made a green stem, gave it leaves and then
Gave it sunshine and rain and sheltered it with moss.
He grew the tree that He knew would be
Used to make the old rugged cross.

Nothing took His life.
With love He gave it.
He was crucified
On a tree that He created.
With great love for man
God stayed with his plan;
He grew the tree
So that we might go free. Continue reading “He Grew The Tree”

High And Lifted Up

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:14-15

High And Lifted Up
by Diane Wilkinson

Jesus said, “If I be lifted up,”
“I will surely draw all men unto me.”
So as Moses raised the serpent in the wilderness
So high and lifted up must Jesus be.

See Him on the cross, His eyes of love
Looking down on all who stood and watched His shame
As they mocked Him, and they scourged Him,
God turned His eyes away
While high and lifted up, He took the blame.

High and lifted up, a loving Saviour
High and lifted up for all to see
Reconciling God and man forever
High and lifted up on Calvary. Continue reading “High And Lifted Up”

He Will Calm The Troubled Waters

And he (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39

He Will Calm The Troubled Waters
If your heart is heavy with some grief or trouble
You do not have to bear it all alone
For you have a friend that knows about your struggles
And he’ll be standing there when all your other friends have gone

And he will calm the troubled waters of your soul
Take your broken heart and make you whole
And if the storms of your life grow dark and cold
He will calm the troubled waters of your soul. Continue reading “He Will Calm The Troubled Waters”

How Did You Feel When You Come Out Of The Wilderness?

We first learned this song in the 1980s when American visitors to our church taught it to us as teenagers. I had forgotten all about it until some of the words poured from my lips after I went through a wilderness experience myself.

It was a rough time of sleepless nights, anguish, strife, sorrow, but it is over now and my soul feels happy because I was leaning on the Lord.

How Did You Feel When You Come Out Of The Wilderness?
by Dr. Mattie Moss Clark

Tell me, how did you feel
When you come out of the wilderness
Come out of the wilderness
Come out of the wilderness
Tell me, how did you feel
When you come out of the wilderness
Leaning on the Lord? Continue reading “How Did You Feel When You Come Out Of The Wilderness?”

Hosanna (Be Lifted Higher)

… much people … took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.” -John 12:12-13

Hosanna (Be Lifted Higher)
by Israel Houghton, Sidney Mohede

Hosanna in the highest
Let our King be lifted up. Hosanna!
Hosanna in the highest
Let our King be lifted up. Hosanna!

:
Hosanna in the highest
Let our King be lifted up. Hosanna!

Let our King be lifted up. Hosanna! Continue reading “Hosanna (Be Lifted Higher)”

He Walked That Lonesome Road

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows . . .
… it is Christ who died, yea rather, who is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

– Isa. 53:4 & Rom. 8:34

He Walked That Lonesome Road
by John W. Peterson

He walked that lonesome road up Calvary
He bore a heavy load, for you and me;
In blood, he paid the price, that only could suffice
He died a sacrifice, upon the tree.

He did not count the cost and turned away
He came to seek the lost who’d gone astray.
He paid the debt we owe and set us free
When he walked that lonesome road up Calvary. Continue reading “He Walked That Lonesome Road”

How Great Thou Art

Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. – Psa. 104:1

How Great Thou Art
by Carl G. Boberg

O Lord, my God! when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed,

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee;
How great thou art, How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee;
How great thou art! How great thou art! Continue reading “How Great Thou Art”
