Continue!

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Cor. 15:58

We are encouraged on this last day of the year to “continue in God’s word and in the faith. Continue in His love and in His grace. Hold fast to what is true, not chasing something new; in all Christ says to do . . . Continue!”

Continue!
by Niki Lott

There is an admonition that we need
A sobering reminder we should heed
To not give up the fight
To stand for what is right
If we would be His followers indeed.

Continue! In His word and in the faith
Continue! In His love and in His grace
Hold fast to what is true
Not chasing something new
In all Christ says to do. Continue! Continue reading “Continue!”

Come Everyone That Is Thirsty

We’re ending the year with this hymn to encourage our hearts to constantly seek after God who saves, keeps and satisfies through Jesus Christ.

Come Everyone That Is Thirsty
by Lucy Rider Meyer

Come every one that is thirsty in spirit
Come every one that is weary and sad;
Come to the fountain, there’s fullness in Jesus
All that you’re longing for; Come and be glad!

Chorus:
“I will pour water on him that is thirsty
I will pour floods upon the dry ground.
Open your heart for the gifts I am bringing;
While ye are seeking Me I will be found.”

Child of the world, are you tired of your bondage? Continue reading “Come Everyone That Is Thirsty”

Come Before His Presence

But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. John 4:23AMP

I first heard this song on an audio cassette my sister Karen gave me in the late 1980s. Today I share it with you on her special day.

Come Before His Presence
by Philip Bailey

Come before His presence
With an open heart to receive Him
When you come before His presence
Lay your burdens down at Jesus’ feet
Come before His presence
And you can forget all your troubles
When you come before His presence
Let Him warm your heart and be at ease to …

Worship Him in true holiness
Worship Him for his righteousness
Worship Him, lift up His holy name.
And come before His presence
Bringing Him your highest praise. Continue reading “Come Before His Presence”

Search Me, O God (Cleanse Me)

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my [anxious] thoughts. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” – Psa. 139:23-24

Search Me, O God (Cleanse Me)
by James Edwin Orr

Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin and set me free.

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy word and make me pure within.
Fill me with fire where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name. Continue reading “Search Me, O God (Cleanse Me)”

Come, Holy Spirit

This was one of the choir pieces sung at Havenhill Baptist Church in the late 1980s, and we loved hearing them sing it. The last time I sang the chorus was about 12 years ago. I’m happy to share it today.

Come, Holy Spirit
by John W. Peterson

The Holy Spirit came at Pentecost
He came in mighty fullness then
His witness through believers won the lost
And multitudes were born again.

The early Christians scattered o’er the world
They preached the gospel fearlessly
Tho’ some were martyred and to lions hurled
They marched along in victory

Chorus
Come, Holy Spirit, dark is the hour
We need your filling
Your love and your mighty power
Move now among us stir us we pray
Come, Holy Spirit revive the church today Continue reading “Come, Holy Spirit”

Caught Up To Meet Him

This is one of those choruses my sister Winsome taught us when we were teenagers.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thess. 4:16-17)

Caught Up To Meet Him
Caught up to meet him,
Caught up to meet him,
Where joy and happiness will be mine!
And we’ll meet in glory,
And we’ll tell the story,
Caught up to meet him in the air.

Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing

I awoke this morning with the words of this hymn on my mind; it was one of my favourites in the 1990’s. I haven’t sung it in ages, but I’m singing it today.

Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing
Come Thou fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing thy grace;
Streams of mercy never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of thy redeeming love. Continue reading “Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing”

Come Down Lord

In that same night, after wracking my brain for another song I learned in High School, I remembered this song – “Come Down Lord”. It is based on the story of the centurion whom Jesus described as having great faith in Matthew chapter 8 verses 6 – 10.

Come Down Lord
Come down, Lord, my son is ill;
Wracked with fever the live long day.
Heal him Lord, if You will,
Drive death away, drive death away.

Chorus:
Lord do not come to my house, I’m unworthy,
Speak and the promise is sealed;
For when your word, O Lord is spoken,
He shall be healed, he shall be healed. Continue reading “Come Down Lord”
